This one’s digits were rather grubby and so Ted decided to clean them. He undid four wee nuts at one end of the case and very, very carefully removed the mechanism. He knew he had to be careful, because it’s very easy for something to go PING and the bits fly everywhere – it all comes down to experience, and Ted is very experienced in these matters. Just as he removed the case, a spring-loaded plate, a pawl, another spiral spring and a small oblong plate flew out.
“Drat,” thought Ted, “I’ve now got to work out how it all goes together.”
So Ted cleaned the reels and sprayed the mechanism with WD40, and did eventually work out how to reassemble it.
But what will he use it for? And why is he even looking at eBay now that the car boot sale has started once more?
